Manufacturer of flexible hose, liquid-tight conduit and weatherproof electrical products · Elizabeth, New Jersey

Extra-duty while-in-use covers keep an outdoor receptacle protected while a cord is plugged in, which the National Electrical Code (406.9(B)) requires for 15- and 20-amp receptacles in wet locations. Sealproof polycarbonate covers are rated Extra Duty, the higher impact class the code specifies for receptacles supporting general use outdoors, and are cULus Listed.

The 18-in-1 and 45-in-1 mounting systems mean one cover fits the common device layouts: duplex, decorator, GFCI, single and round receptacles, horizontal or vertical. Covers are offered in clear, gray, white, black and bronze for one- and two-gang boxes, with a lockable hasp and multiple cord openings.

Frequently asked about Extra Duty While In Use Covers

What does "Extra Duty" mean on an in-use cover?

It is the UL 514D impact rating the NEC requires for outdoor receptacle covers on 15- and 20-amp circuits. Extra-duty covers withstand higher impact and UV exposure than standard-duty covers.

Will one cover fit a GFCI and a duplex receptacle?

Yes. The 18-in-1 (one-gang) and 45-in-1 (two-gang) mounting plates adapt to duplex, decorator/GFCI, single and round devices in either orientation.

Can the cover be locked?

Yes. The hasp accepts a small padlock to prevent unplugging.
