Why choose a plastic outlet box over metal?
Corrosion resistance and weight. Polycarbonate does not rust or pit in salt air or pool chemistry, and it is non-conductive. Metal boxes are preferred where mechanical abuse or grounding through the box is required.
Can a plastic box take a metal cover?
Yes. The screw pattern is the standard one-gang pattern, so any Sealproof one-gang cover with gasket fits.
Are plastic boxes UV resistant?
Yes. The polycarbonate compound is UV-stabilised for permanent outdoor exposure.
